05:09:13 pm I took the vow

Interested in making the globe a more peaceful place?

There is a new global movement and website, called "I Take the Vow", which emerged from an Alliance for a New Humanity conference in Barcelona with Deepak Chopra. On the site, you can make the personal vow ("I Take The Vow of non-violence in my thoughts, my speech and my actions") and enroll others in the pledge as well. See: http://itakethevow.com/home

02:27:52 pm DVT Awareness Pin

I was having difficulty finding where I could buy a DVT awareness pin in Canada. I found a company in the U.S. that delivered! It's called Personalized Cause, (slogan; Now It's Personal), at www.personalizedcause.com. The pin I purchased is white and red, standing for DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis). My goal is that by wearing this pin, it will create curiosity, questions, and awareness. For a photo, see the website or in My Personal Story in the August 2008 edition of my newsletter coming soon!

01:26:07 pm Laptop skins for a custom look

I love my macbook, I really do. But I must admit that my creative side longed for a custom cover design such as those that dress some of the pc laptops out there recently. Well I ran into someone who had a color cover case, which had me thinking that there are products out there somewhere. After googling around I came across Vision Skins, who while they have a multitude of skins for phones, ipods, and universal sized laptops, they had macbook specific ones on eBay. Some of the designs are a little wild! I picked "Dream" and just received it yesterday. It went on like a dream and looks like a gloss custom paint job. I can't believe it! So if you are looking for a little pick-me-up for your laptop, there are a lot of options out there. Enjoy browsing!

01:14:49 pm An Open Road

I just finished reading "The Open Road: The Global Journey of the Fourteenth Dalai Lama" by Pico Iyer, and wow--what a great read! I've always admired the Dalai Lama for many reasons. Primarily, because he encourages people to believe in the faith they choose--he is so very open minded--and reminds us that the power for peace and for transformation lies within us (not outside of us), a portion of philosophy which I am a huge advocate of. This book was compelling, engaging, and a definite recommend!

Here's a quote: "A Buddhist talks not so much about good and evil as about ignorance and awakening; in that sense, he brings all responsibility inward, so as not to waste time blaming people outside himself, but to see how he can better understand (and therefore solve) the problem within."
