2:28 pm DVT Awareness Pin

I was having difficulty finding where I could buy a DVT awareness pin in Canada. I found a company in the U.S. that delivered! It’s called Personalized Cause, (slogan; Now It’s Personal), at The pin I purchased is white and red, standing for DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis). My goal is that by wearing this pin, it will create curiosity, questions, and awareness. For a photo, see the website or in My Personal Story in the August 2008 edition of my newsletter coming soon!

This was taken from the book, “Dream Dictionary for Dummies”:

* What kind of experience and attitude do I want to have today?

* What do I want to give and receive today?

2:36 pm Starbucks “The Way I See It” Quote #26

On my Starbucks coffee this morning:

Failure’s hard, but success is far more dangerous. If you’re successful at the wrong thing, the mix of praise and money and opportunity can lock you in forever.

Hmm… interesting.

2:32 pm Shocking story–woman left to die of DVT & PE in NYC hospital.

I was sent this story and was completely shocked and sickened. A woman was left for 24 hours in a NYC hospital with DVT symptoms. She died of Pulmonary Embolism, and spent an hour suffering on the floor in the waiting room, as patients, Doctors, and security personnel witnessed it and turned the other way. Finally after she passed away, a nurse came and kicked her to see if she was dead, before taking her pulse. Absolutely shocking. Apparently 6 people were fired.

6:48 pm Lesley Ann Warren quote

I just read an article called “Q & A with Lesley Ann Warren” in this month’s issue of Positive Living magazine (one of my favourite mags!) Here’s a quote from her:

There’s a great expression, “Rejection is God’s Protection”. I really try to look at it that way. …when something doesn’t work out it’s because of a very good reason that has to do with my soul’s path.

7:55 pm On Asking and Abundance

I have been revisiting The Prayer of Jabez Devotional by Bruce Wilkinson… here are a couple of quotes/reminders from my reading today:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”–Mathew 7:7-8

Asking is the beginning of receiving. Make sure you don’t go to the ocean with a teaspoon. At least take a bucket so the kids won’t laugh at you.”–Jim Rohn

4:18 pm Bucket List contest

After being diagnosed with DVT, I thought it was high time to reflect on all that I want to accomplish before I die. Ironically enough, I was just thinking earlier this year that I have fulfilled lots of goals, have given some contribution and have made a difference, so what is next for me? I always write goals and like to have several things on the go at once, but this time it’s different. This is serious business! :) I have started a new mental list and begun with NOW… what to do every day and am doing it. Now to pull all my goal lists together (mental and written!) and create my master piece… my “Bucket List”.

If you haven’t seen the movie The Bucket List, with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, I highly recommend renting it. (See the trailer at: Yes, you get exactly what you’d expect–so no big surprises, but it’s a funny and heartwarming movie, and those two are so great on screen together. The screenplay writer is also putting together a book of the same name, which is to include some real life bucket lists, so I’m awaiting that release.

Contest for my newsletter subscribers:

If you decide to create your own bucket list and would like to share, please send in your top 10 to me (with “Contest” in the subject line), and one participant will be chosen to have their list appear in an upcoming newsletter, and will win a copy of my e-book, “Breathe: How to Keep Your Cool at Work (or anywhere else)”.

Enjoy life and live each day to the fullest!
